We needed one of those...uh.. "Rejuvinatin' Greasy Breakfasts" to counter an over consumption of a certain type of liquid.
We headed down to the Slocan for some All Day Breakfast. I had never been there, and yelp said it was alright. The only other “close as we want to walk” was some placed called Tom and Jerry’s, which features a banner of some Budweiser girls from the 90’s and boasts about $4 awful beer on tap. (not that I judge, I’ve been to many a scuzzy place, they’re just reserved for french fries and karaoke).
It sounds fancy but it soooo isn't.
I tried summing this recipe up, but it kept ending up as a “that’s what she said” joke. So we’ll just say they’re good! Easy too!
One of the few (good) greasy spoons we have!
It’s been a long time since I’ve been to Bon’s. I used to go quite often when I lived off Commercial Drive, but living in in Burnaby near Metrotown, it’s a bit of trek. This is where you go for cheap, greasy breakfast. This place has been around forever, and you see regulars, Veterans, families, hungover teenagers, everyone flocking to this place. It’s generally super packed on weekends, not a long wait if you’re willing, but it’s def not bad for a visit during the week.
Bright yellow paint on the walls, random movie posters, and tons of signatures/doodles on the walls. And you come here, ONLY for the breakfast special.
I’m lucky enough to have amazing parents willing to taxi around my 24 year old car-less body to and from the grocery store from time to time. So that’s where I was after work, unfortunately I hadn’t eaten dinner, so it was definitely difficult.
I find I don’t have problems with over purchasing, or purchasing what I don’t need in the grocery store when hungry. My only problem is a bit of attitude, and how I can’t stop thinking about how I need to eat some food.
So as soon as I got home I needed something filling and comforting.
It's nota spicya meatball!
This is another one of those last-minute-unplanned-incredibly-successful dinners. I had some defrosted pork in the fridge, some leftover sauce, and tons of pasta in the cupboard.
For meatballs and hamburgers/meatloaf I generally follow one recipe.
So, it’s Sunday morning, you’re hungover and need breakfast. What DO you do?
Bring on das pancakes!
This was our last breakfast before we moved. We didn’t want to buy any groceries, nor spend any money. So I had to improvise with what was in the freezer.
We had french fries, the big fat ones. Steak fries? Frozen breakfast sausage, some green onion and some parsley.
Ice Ice, Baby
You may not be aware but Michael and I are in the middle of moving. Or in the middle of about to be moved?
Regardless, we’re packed, waiting to leave and are quite lacking in the ingredients for dinner area.
So tonight I had a look in the pantry/fridge and came up with a Pork Sausage and Fresh Tomato Alfredo Linguine. I also made some garlic bread out of some 3 day old french bread.
You can't believe how happy my belly was.
…the rest is this way!
