Check me out at my new site!
I thought I’d make one of these, because I think it’s super important that you have a properly stocked pantry. If you’re new to cooking or think you dislike it, this will make it easier, and fun! Or something!
and in the interest of awesomeosity, I’m going to look for the best stock photos ever.
I had some chickpeas for falafel rehydrating, and I thought I’d take a shot at making pita bread. First time ever. I always risk making things I’ve never made before, but dinner always seems to turn out. Now that I’ve said that, I’ll probably burn the kitchen down next time!
These are a must make. MUST! Must make, and eat immediately after making. So awesome.
I’ve posted a recipe from my friend Bryan on here a while back, it was a random trip to starbucks that turned into some odd sandwich. But this was something he planned, and has actually had before.
I like using heart shaped cookie cutters, molds, stamps, whatever. My middle name is Love (seriously), and I’m normally a huge cheeseball. I like to draw heart shaped sriracha on food I give to Michael.
Love love love love hearts *puke*. I make myself sick!
It was our 3 year anniversary yesterday, so I post something heart shaped in lieu of a proper related post.
Just a quick-ish post. My mother made these for Michael and I last weekend 🙂 I asked. It was one of my favourite things she used to make!
So I went to Donalds Market earlier in the week and they had whole cartons of peaches for $2.99! So I had to buy them and I had to make something.
There’s this new place down the street that we go for our Pho nowadays, but they have this one type that just blows me away.
We headed down to the Slocan for some All Day Breakfast. I had never been there, and yelp said it was alright. The only other “close as we want to walk” was some placed called Tom and Jerry’s, which features a banner of some Budweiser girls from the 90’s and boasts about $4 awful beer on tap. (not that I judge, I’ve been to many a scuzzy place, they’re just reserved for french fries and karaoke).
One of my facebook fans straight up asked if I could try and make some brownies she’d had at a fundraiser, and gave me the description. I’m not sure if I came even close, but regardless these were tasty!
I guess I do requests now!
These are my “fudgey brownies with a peanut-buttery milk chocolate topping with mini chocolate chips”.
You know I love spicy, asian-y, cilantro-y, peanut-y, whatever else-y can describe my tastes. This is a dish I’ve started to make much more often because it’s just so easy. And I have not just one, but TWO ways to make this! Golly! (there’s way more ways than two, I might have lied)
This is a type of cake my mother used to always make. Especially when we had fresh plums! This works great with any kind of fruit, and the base is incredibly forgiving.
I wasn’t sure what to make for lunch, I was thinking pasta, but I had some bacon and eggs and it sounded perfect!
It’s been a long time since I’ve been to Bon’s. I used to go quite often when I lived off Commercial Drive, but living in in Burnaby near Metrotown, it’s a bit of trek. This is where you go for cheap, greasy breakfast. This place has been around forever, and you see regulars, Veterans, families, hungover teenagers, everyone flocking to this place. It’s generally super packed on weekends, not a long wait if you’re willing, but it’s def not bad for a visit during the week.
Bright yellow paint on the walls, random movie posters, and tons of signatures/doodles on the walls. And you come here, ONLY for the breakfast special.
We generally eat pretty boring breakfasts. Cereal, granola, fruit, toast, yogurt. But most weekends, one of the days I’ll make “Big Breakfast”, which generally consists of Eggs, hash browns, toast. Maybe bacon or sausage if we’re lucky.
My absolute favourite is to make hashbrowns WITH bacon. I know, I’m terrible aren’t I? The potatoes get so beautifully crisp from the bacon fat, and they’re so flavourful. It makes me happy thinking about it.
I’m very nostalgic about food. I think I’m just very nostalgic in general, but that’s another story.
One of the fondest memories I have of food, is when my mother used to give me a dish of apples and cinnamon to snack on whenever she made apple pie.
No time for apple pie today, and with only one apple. Pancakes it was!
There’s one sweet thing I bake regularly, and that’s banana bread. Solely because we’re bad at eating fruit, and bananas always get too brown. Thankfully they survive well in the freezer.
And as soon as I have 3, BAM.
Banana bread time!!
I know I’ve been making a lot of pizza lately, but this was something I’ve wanted to try for quite some time. This is by far not an original idea. I’ve seen numerous blog posts about breakfast pizzas, and it seemed like an awesome idea!
And it WAS.
Last night I went to a “round” themed potluck. Everyone with round food! But I came home and had a few drinks, so right now I’ll post my “hangover hashbrowns” and then later on today I’ll post the dishes I brought to the potluck!
This is easy. Stupid easy. A quick greasy breakfast in little time, with a little improvisation.
