Watermelon Raspberry Granita

An easy cool treat for those of you enjoying summer right now!


I made this granita a while back, it was beautiful when I made it! The weather’s been crap since!


Even my strawberries are suffering! Lots of flowers on the tomato plant, but a lot are falling off due to the crap weather. There's some little green tomatoes on there already though! At least I'll have some!


Back to the granita!

What you need:

  • 4 cups seedless watermelon chunks
  • a good handfull of raspberries
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • Juice of 1 lime (or lemon)
You can really use any combination of fruit, but I probably wouldn’t use grapes.

Chunks! This was a delicious watermelon.


Raspberries, sugar and lime juice! Blend!



Pour into a freezeable dish/pan and freeze for two hours. That's when we start the scrapin'! Scrape/stir with a fork every 30 minutes, until you have icy fruity flaky deliciousness.

I did not photograph my scraping adventures, because I also made that sangria the same time I was making this, and decided to have a bunch of sangria… *cough*


The freezer time will vary depending on the depth of pan you’ve used and your freezer. So just keep an eye on it. If you accidentally freeze it into a giant ice cube, just break it up into a food processor and blitz it a bit!




As for this weather, man, it’s awful. Produce isn’t as nice as it usually is. Local strawberries are flavourless. Climate change SUCKS. Especially for those who enjoy local food!
