We are pretty much grocery-less in this house, need to go do that tonight.
I did what I could for breakfast! I always seem to have flour and leavening agents. But I was lucky enough to have a tub of sour cream kickin’ around as well!
Savory Herb and Cheese Loaf:
- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 tsp finely ground black pepper
- 2 tbsp finely chopped, fresh parsley
- 2 tbsp finely chopped, fresh green onion
- 1/8 cup grated cheddar cheese
- 1/8 cup grated parmesan cheese
- 4 tbsp melted butter
- 1 1/4 cup sour cream
- 1/3 cup whole milk
Preheat oven to 350 and butter a 9×5 loaf pan. You can do these as muffins too!
Put flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt and pepper in a large bowl and gently stir together. Put the chopped herbs, egg, melted butter, sour cream and milk in another bowl and wisk. Pour the wet mixture over the flour mixture, add the cheeses and gently blend together to form a soft dough.
Bake for 35-45 minutes or until top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
Allow to cool for a few minutes in the pan, remove and cool on a rack. Serve slightly warm with butter! Yay!
We ate half of this guy. So good.
